Clawfoot Tub Faucets

Choosing a clawfoot tub for your bathroom can be a large decision, especially since the hardware and faucets for this style are different than standard bathtub accoutrements. If you're up for the creative challenge, a clawfoot tub and faucet can bring a sophisticated designer quality to your bathroom.

Clawfoot tub design options

Adhering to the traditional design of the clawfoot tub is actually easier than one might think. A wide variety of decorative Victorian and Art Deco faucet designs are available for your elegant clawfoot tub and can be found in major hardware stores, although you will find a much larger selection online.

The easiest clawfoot tubs to outfit already have holes for the faucet and hardware, but clawfoot tub faucets are available in both attached and unattached styles. The freestanding, unattached clawfoot tub faucet style is especially useful if you have an antique tub and don't want to attempt drilling holes.

Free-standing

The unattached clawfoot tub faucets simply attach to the bathroom wall and have floor supports that hold the faucets above the tub rim. These clawfoot tub faucets are also known as freestanding.

A modern, convenient addition to some clawfoot tub faucets is the hand shower, which can be attached to the plumbing through a flexible tube. A built-in holder makes the hand shower a stylish and matching addition to these clawfoot tub faucets.

Attached at the hip

Attached clawfoot tub faucets are available in several styles. The traditional style includes hot and cold water levers and a faucet that points straight down and cannot swivel. A gooseneck clawfoot tub faucet style has an elegant, arching faucet that can swivel. The Roman faucet style features a faucet that is long and can swivel, but extends from the tub wall at a perpendicular angle. Clawfoot tub faucets can also be attached to the tub wall or to the top of the clawfoot tub ledge.
